„The US had 88.8 guns per 100 people in 2007 — compared with 54.8 in the second-closest country, Yemen.“

„Black teens were 21 times as likely as white teens to be shot and killed by police between 2010 and 2012“

„Racial minorities made up about 37.4 percent of the general population in the US and 46.6 percent of armed and unarmed victims, but they made up 62.7 percent of unarmed people killed by police“

„The National Police Misconduct Reporting Project analyzed 3,238 criminal cases against police officers (…)  They found that only 33 percent were convicted, and 36 percent of officers who were convicted ended up serving prison sentences. Both of those are about half the rate at which members of the public are convicted or incarcerated.“

„Police often deployed military-grade equipment — such as tear gas, rubber bullets, sound cannons, and mine-resistant armored trucks — against largely peaceful protesters, sometimes agitating the situation and causing demonstrations to unnecessarily escalate into tense and even violent conflicts.“
